French Rose 75

This is a cocktail is a classic French 75 with a twist. And not just a lemon twist...

I can literally drink these all day. Which I may or may not have done before.

1.5 oz Pink Gin

0.5 oz fresh lemon juice

0.5 oz simple syrup

1/2 tsp Crème de cassis

2-3 oz sparkling wine (we recommend prosecco) 🍾

Lemon twist garnish

Shake the first three ingredients together (or alternatively, stir them together) with ice. Strain the liquid into your a stemmed glass. Add in the Crème de cassis, then top up with bubbles and place your garnish. Bubbles make everything better.

Food for thought:

This cocktail was named after the French 75mm field gun, the favourite of the French Army during WWI, when this cocktail was created. Its powerful flavour and boozy punch was reminiscent of the lethal potency of the gun. Originally, this drink was called the "Soixante-Quinze" (still referred to as such in France) and did not contain Champagne until more than 10 years after it's birth!
